Loran Thompson a PeaceBuilders trainer and Bloomer, joined PeacePartners in August of 2008.
For the last 15 years, Loran has worked with San Diego City Schools, facilitating groups and trainings, designing and coordinating school wide assemblies and events on bullying, violence prevention, substance abuse, and other life skills. She’s also the founder and CEO for a youth development company, called "Opportunities For Youth."
Loran has volunteered at local high schools and middle schools co-creating videos with students on topics such as "Making Healthy Choices". She also facilitates groups on stress management and self esteem at the Crossroads Foundation, a treatment center for women recovering from drug abuse.
What Loran likes about working with PeaceBuilders, is knowing that the work she does is changing children’s lives and that work can eventually change their world. Loran believes that if we all practiced PeaceBuilders principles everyday, our world would be a better place to live in.
An interesting fact about Loran is that she lived in Hawaii as a teenager and learned how to surf. Today, on a good day, you can still see her out in the water, catching a "BIG" wave. (At least in her own mind!!!).
She loves spending time with her family and friends, taking long walks with her dog early in the morning, watching good movies, eating good food, playing with her video camera and of course, catching a good wave.
One of her favorite quotes is by Mahatma Gandhi, whose life was a message... a message of peace over power and of living in harmony with respect and love for all, even our enemies.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
