PeaceBuilders® Logo Contest

Encouraging applicable uses of the PeaceBuilders Principles, PeacePartners Inc.™ has chosen to Seek Wise People, by recently conducting a national contest for children and adults from currently licensed PeaceBuilders sites to create a new logo for its youth-based violence prevention program.

PeacePartners received more than 2200 logo contest entries from across North America and territories of the United States, each with its own style and creativity. Making a choice was extremely difficult due to the many inspired entries we received. After many meetings and much deliberation, PeacePartners selected 2 winners; Heather Laub, a fourth grader from Olive Elementary in Orange, CA and Kay Steele, an art teacher from Buchanan Elementary in Davenport, Iowa. In the end, two wonderful ideas from two creative minds came together and with the help of a graphic artist, produced our new collaborative logo. Using a masterful play on words: “We are not complete without your peace,” along with a powerful graphic showing a “piece” fitting into a puzzle of the earth and the word “PeaceBuilders” spelled out in blocks across the globe, our logo was created. The talented artists each received $2500 in PeaceBuilders materials or training for their sites and a personal $250 gift certificate to Amazon.com presented by PeacePartners representatives during school-wide assemblies.

“ We are thrilled for Heather and her wonderful accomplishment,” says Linda Salata, Olive Elementary principal. “We have been a PeaceBuilders school since 2000. As a busy campus, we deal with challenging issues from time to time, and having the PeaceBuilders program established as a way of life gives us the tools to better manage these situations.”

We at PeacePartners could not have said it better. We are filled with pride to know that our program can create this type of stability for our future. We can provide the tools, but the work has to be done collaboratively. We look forward to your participation in the next PeacePartners event.
