PeaceBuilders® Creating Safe, Positive Learning Environments

National PeaceBuilder

As our way of honoring PeaceBuilders who go beyond all expectations, PeacePartners, Inc. recognizes several “National PeaceBuilders” throughout the year. These exceptional people work unselfishly to build peace in their homes, in their schools and in their communities; and in so doing they make the world a better place for all of us. Join us in celebrating each and every one of them for their contributions in creating safer, more peaceful learning environments.
March 2010
Young people need role-models they can emulate. Too often, youth are surrounded by adults who "tell" them what to do and how to do it but don't always follow their own advice. Young people "see" a lot of behavior that contradicts the expectations we have for them.

But some young people are fortunate to work with an adult who leads by example - someone who will "show" them how to behave through her own daily actions and interactions. Our PeaceBuilder of the Month is that kind of adult.

Meet Karina Enriquez, the site director at Northpointe Community and Recreation Center BLAST (Better Learning After School Today) Program.
Karina Enriquez is a soft spoken but strong willed PeaceBuilder who gets the job done. She sets an example not only for the youth at her site but for her colleagues at Northpointe and at BLAST.

It is the small things we do day by day that make the biggest difference in the lives of others. It is the decisions we make, the tone we use when we talk to others, and the words we choose that most profoundly affect those around us. Karina Enriquez is our PeaceBuilder of the Month because she makes PeaceBuilding a reality. If you want to know how to build peace, watch Karina.
