PeaceBuilders® Creating Safe, Positive Learning Environments

National PeaceBuilder

As our way of honoring PeaceBuilders who go beyond all expectations, PeacePartners, Inc. recognizes several “National PeaceBuilders” throughout the year. These exceptional people work unselfishly to build peace in their homes, in their schools and in their communities; and in so doing they make the world a better place for all of us. Join us in celebrating each and every one of them for their contributions in creating safer, more peaceful learning environments.

It's easy to spot a PeaceBuilder. You can tell by watching the way a person treats others and by how she talks to and about people. A PeaceBuilder knows that building peace is matter of respect and kindness.

A true PeaceBuilder is someone you can count on to behave exactly the same whether or not other people are watching. Our PeaceBuilder of the Month, Tracy Colunga, is that kind of person. Building peace is her passion and her profession.

Tracy is a kind, caring friend who goes out of her way to get to know people. She shows interest, asks questions, and takes the time to listen. Tracy also makes it her practice to help others. She is a mentor to her nephew Miguel (shown in the photo with her during a surfing lesson).

As the Child Care and Weed & Seed Programs Coordinator for the Long Beach Health Department, Tracy Colunga is involved in many facets of her community and takes every opportunity to build peace. She is responsible for providing resources and referrals to residents of Central Long Beach for preschool and child care. She is Site Supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services Central Facility Center, and a Weed and Seed Safe Haven, where residents can learn about and access community resources for themselves and their families.

Although, Tracy juggles numerous responsibilities, she always keeps her goal in mind: to improve the lives of underprivileged residents in her community. She is an expert at getting things done. She knows when to seek a wise person for help and she knows who to ask for the help she needs.

No matter how long she works or how tired she is, Tracy maintains her compassion and her kindness. She is a PeaceBuilding role-model for countless people in her community of Long Beach, CA, and we are delighted to honor her accomplishments.
