National PeaceBuilder |
|
As our way of honoring PeaceBuilders who go beyond all expectations, PeacePartners, Inc. recognizes several
“National PeaceBuilders” throughout the year. These exceptional people work unselfishly to
build peace in their homes, in their schools and in their communities; and in so doing they make the world a
better place for all of us. Join us in celebrating each and every one of them for their contributions in creating
safer, more peaceful learning environments. |
August 2009 |
Being a PeaceBuilder means living a life that serves as a model and an inspiration to others. It's
easy for a person to call himself a PeaceBuilder, but a continuous effort is required to walk the walk.
Our PeaceBuilder of the Month for August, 2009, is a solid and significant PeaceBuilder in his community
of Long Beach, California.

Meet Darick J. Simpson, Executive Director of Long Beach Community Action Partnership. |
Darick has devoted countless hours, even years, developing programs to help young people build successful
futures. He is a respected leader and role model in his community and is well-known for his compassion, empathy
and commitment to young people.
Two of the things that make Darick such a respected leader are his practice of leading by example and his
expectations that young people step up to the plate, take on responsibilities, and assume their rightful place
in society as leaders and role-models in their own right.
Darick Simpson practices the PeaceBuilders Principles everyday, which is exactly what our young people need to
see: a community leader who builds peace by saying what he means and doing what he says. |
