St. Edward - Jeffersontown, KY |
Building peace takes a daily effort. No one knows that better than the staff and students at St. Edward school who have made PeaceBuilding a way of life for many years. Some daily efforts to build peace transcend the boundaries of the school, however, and reach out to the community.
International Day of Peace gave St. Edward School another opportunity to spread their message of peace to the community of Jeffersontown. Like many PeaceBuilders sites, the students and staff at St. Edward all created individual pinwheels to show their solidarity with others who are working to increase peace in their communities and world-wide. |
|
To build peace at school, each young person brought his/her decorated pinwheel to the Pinwheels for Peace assembly. |
Afterward, they planted their pinwheels outside where the breeze blew, spinning them round, just as other pinwheels across the globe were also spinning—all in the name of peace. |

St. Edward students pose with their World Peace Day poster alongside some of the many pinwheels that adorn their school. |
We are proud of the PeaceBuilding efforts the wise students and staff at St. Edward make to build peace in their community and spread peace throughout the world. We praise Principal Susan Jones and the coordinator of Pinwheels for Peace at St. Edward, Counselor Kristi Kelly, for their ongoing role-modeling of the PeaceBuilders Principles and for making International Day of Peace a successful event and a wonderful learning experience for the young people at this exceptional PeaceBuilders site. |
