Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) - Faribault, MN |
The staff at Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) in Faribault, MN is preparing students
to be leaders who build peace. Along with their important academic studies, young people at this
school participate in classroom and site-wide activities that promote peace at school and in their
community.
Recently, selected youth at MSAD were invited to participate in a PeaceBuilders PeaceCoach training
(for youth 11-18 years of age) to learn important leadership and interpersonal strategies that will
help them lead the way as PeaceBuilders role-models at their school.
During the training, they participated in team building activities that focused on leadership skills
and the six PeaceBuilders Principles.

Young people participate in an activity called "PeaceBuilders Cone Heads"
that illustrates the importance of working together toward a common goal and forces youth to contemplate
their sincere willingness to help others.

These two students are engaged in a team building activity that requires them to strategize and
work together to free themselves from a pair of rope handcuffs.

During the PeaceCoach training, along with these fun activities, young people engage in activities that
make the six PeaceBuilders Principles meaningful in real-life ways.
The PeaceBuilders PeaceCoach training is engaging and inspirational to young people. They learn important
life skills and come to value their responsibility as role models for their peers.
The youth at MSAD are off to a strong start. We are proud to share their training story, and we're excited
to share future success stories from these young leaders.
