 Claudette Powers, our Peace Ambassador, joined PeacePartners in July of 2003. Claudette comes from a diverse background with over forty years of experience in education, conflict resolution, violence prevention and human relations. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Early Childhood and a Masters in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) from California State University Dominguez Hills. She received her Administrative Credential in Educational Management from San Francisco State University. She has worked with public sector organizations including numerous school districts across the U.S., presenting seminars. Her areas of experience are: building self esteem in children, classroom management and building peaceful and safe environments. She was a teacher and school administrator for twenty-five years.
Claudette is a member of the Community Assistance Team where she counsels Long Beach residents who have experienced hate crimes. Her passion is helping adults learn to teach young people the value of living a life that builds peace and success by being live models of the behavior they want young people to exhibit.
She is gifted with a message that reaches a diverse audience (youth and adults) in a special way that moves them to take action in creating better lives for themselves and all those they come in contact with. She is respected as a very inspirational/motivational speaker who is vision driven with a “passion for peace.” |
