Pinwheels for Peace
International Peace Day is on September 21st.

In past years, many PeaceBuilders sites have celebrated by participating in the Pinwheels for Peace campaign. This year will be no exception--and we'd love for you to join us!

If you would like to participate, the photos and ideas herein will make it easy!

First, be sure to announce to your community that you are participating in Pinwheels for Peace to celebrate International Peace Day. Without a banner, of some sort, they will certainly appreciate the pinwheels, but may not connect them to this important day.

This PeaceBuilders site's banner uses a play on words to announce their campaign.

At PeacePartners, Inc., we hang a banner on the outside of our building to inform our community and to encourage their participation and support for world peace.

Simple directions explaining how to make pinwheels along with a template can be found on the Pinwheels for Peace website: www.pinwheelsforpeace.com. You will also be able to view photos from participating sites around the world and view a map of participating locations for 2009.

Decorated pinwheels can be as unique as the people who make them.

You can hang your pinwheels on the wall and create beautiful displays.

You can plant them in the ground and let the wind peacefully whirl them around.

You should definitely take photos of your children holding the pinwheels they make in
support of "whirled" peace.

It's easy and it's fun to celebrate International Peace Day. The more we talk about peace and make it part of the daily consciousness of the children in our care, the more likely we are to create the peaceful future we envision.

Support whirled peace. Join PeaceBuilders sites across the nation and in US Territories this year as we participate in Pinwheels for Peace. Visit our website for more information: http://www.peacebuilders.com/pages/pinwheel.php.
